Happy New Year & Don't Fall Into The Same Trap

Tonight the world crossed into a new year.  2008 marks the beginning for many of a new set of resolutions only to fail within weeks if not days.  For the other 2% they will make great strides in their life and achieve things they knew were possible to the amazement of others.  What group will you choose to be in this year?  Will you choose to be those who make commitments without the drive to follow through, or will you make yourself uncomfortable and MAKE things happen, versus waiting for them to happen!

I encourage you to break the cycle of dead end resolutions and make 2008 your year!

Happy new year and a prosperous 2008!

I am OBSESSED with Amazon Sales Rank!

As authors we are always intrigued by how well our book is selling compared with others in our field and I am no different from everyone else.  When you have your book published and in stores you become fascinated or better yet obsessed with the "numbers".  Numbers like BookScan on how many books sold in the store, how many hits on the website, etc, but I am OBSESSED with my Amazon.com sales rank.  Every day, and many mores times in the day I check it as it mentally toys with me going up and down.

Fortunately I found a tool to help us authors save some time with constantly checking our rank and where we are.  There is a cool tool at RankForest.com that allows authors to check their rank. However it gets banker than consolidating your ranking from Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and other stores, this tool sends you a RSS Feed of your rank automatically every hour on the hour.  How cool is that!

So now your favorite author is having his sales rank fed straight into his iGoogle.com page.  You may think I am crazy but you will understand when you publish your first book, no one is immune to the sales rank bug!
